Mark Kerins
Whether he is playing or coaching, Coach Mark Kerins' intense passion for the sport of volleyball is evident. As a player, he is known for his primal roar as he hits almost as much as his high level of intensity. As a coach, he's transferred that intensity to his commitment to seeing players learn, improve, and excel.
Coach Mark began playing volleyball in high school and was one of the nation's top mens volleyball players at Ocean View High School in Huntington Beach. From there he went on to play at Long Beach State (1985-1990) where he was a three time All-American. While at Long Beach State Coach Mark earned his Bachelor's Degree in Speech Communications. Upon completing his studies he spent two years competing with the USA Men's National Team (1990-1991). From there he transitioned to beach volleyball where his intensity and 100% mentality continued to bring him success. Coach Mark competed on the AVP (Association of Volleyball Professionals) Tour for eight years, capturing two beach titles (Cape Cod, 1997 and Grand Haven, 1998). He is also a seven time Manhattan Beach 6-Man Champion and an original member of Team MAGNUM P.I.
Coach Mark has been coaching for over 28 years, the past six at LBVBC coaching both on the boys and girls side. He continues to maintain his volleyball roots, playing in recreational tournaments throughout the summer and running volleyball clinics and tournaments for children and adults. Coach Mark currently resides in Laguna Niguel with his wife Gabby and has one daughter recently completed her volleyball career at Cal State Fullerton and another who is currently attending and playing division I volleyball at The College of the Holy Cross.
