Coach JD Kuhl is entering into her 8th year of coaching after beginning her career in 2015, after graduating from Vanguard University of Southern California. Born and raised in Orange County, CA, Kuhl attended Mission Viejo High School, playing 4 years as a Diablo where they won a South Coast League title in 2010. After high school, Kuhl received an athletic scholarship to play volleyball at Vanguard University in Costa Mesa. While playing at Vanguard, Kuhl earned three All-American Honors, three GSAC All-Conference Team Honors, three All-Region Honors, and Tachikara All-Tournament Team at the National Tournament for NAIA. In August 2020, Kuhl was recognized as a member of Vanguard Volleyball's All-Decade Team.
Kuhl is currently the Assistant Varsity Coach at Mission Viejo High School. Coaching alongside LBVBC alumni, Brooke Marino. While at Mission, she helped the last 2 varsity teams head to the CIF playoffs.
Aside from coaching, Kuhl currently works at Vanguard University as the Director of Auxiliary Services and Risk Management. Kuhl received her BA in Accounting and soon after received her MBA from Concordia University of Irvine. She currently resides in Lake Forest with her husband, Willie Kuhl.
Kuhl dedicates herself to helping young athletes continue to grow, be inspired, be a team player and continue to love the game.
