Dave Hollaway
With over a decade of collegiate coaching experience, 4 State Championships, 1 CIF Championship, and more than 28 years of high school and club coaching experience, Coach Dave's credentials speak for themselves. Throughout his many years in the game as both a player and a coach, he has seen the importance of being a well-rounded athlete who is trained in all facets of the game and strives to help his athletes attain this level.
A local product of Mission Viejo, Coach Dave graduated from Mission Viejo High School and went on to win 2 straight State Championships at Orange Coast College as an outside hitter and setter (1990 & 1991). From there he transferred to Long Beach State where his ability as a complete volleyball player also enabled him to play as both an outside hitter and setter at the Division I level, captaining the team in 1994.
Following his successful playing career, Coach Dave became as Assistant Coach for the Long Beach State Men's Volleyball Team. He then went on to coach at Goldenwest College where he helped guide the men's team to two straight State Championships. From there he spent two years as the Head Girls' Varsity Volleyball Coach at Dana Hills High School, leading them to two South Coast League Titles (1995 & 1996). Coach Dave then moved up north to become the First Assistant Coach for the Santa Clara University Women's Volleyball Team (1997-2001). During that time, he was instrumental in helping the team capture the West Coast Conference Title in 2000. He then moved on to the University of Pacific where he served as the Top Assistant Coach for the women's volleyball team from 2001-2006.
Coach Dave is currently the Head Boys' Varsity Coach as well as the Assistant Girls' Varsity Coach at Trabuco Hills High School. Since taking over as Head Coach for the boys at Trabuco Hills he has continued to grow the program year after year, leading his team to the first league title in program history in 2011. Coach Dave helped the Girls' Varsity Team capture a CIF Championship (Fall 2015) and, most recently, a spot in the 2018 CIF Finals. Coach Dave resides in Mission Viejo with his wife, Suzie, and daughters, Britt and Alex.
